WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Actually the most amazing feeling ever, because I felt so shit in the lead up and during exams. And I had no motivation, and just couldn't be bothered studying. So went in feeling like I knew nothing. This just proves it...ANYONE CAN DO MEDICINE!!! Ha.
But the way I got my results back was pretty ridiculous. Like actually homage to the name of my blog...truly tragic. We were told to check online for our results, and when I did, I saw I got a big fat F. And I was expecting it. Because I KNEW NOTHING!!!! But at the same time I felt pretty disappointed. So I sent an email to the first year coordinator, asking what sections I failed, so I would know what to study for the supp mid-January. She replied saying I would get an email from the faculty within 24 hours regarding it.

Mount Lofty - feeling a bit sporty
I just went on a hike up Mt Lofty, the hightest peak in Adelaide. It is a mecca for all anyone who wants a bit of a heartbeat-raising work out. I used to do Lofty once a week for a year at one point, but if you're like me and wake up really late in the afternoon, you will be hard pressed to find a good parking spot, and the sun is usually beating down and makes you hot by midday. The best time to go is early morning, in the crisp air. I use to go at around 7 am, and be down by 815-830 am to have a nice breakfast and be pumped for the rest of the day.
This Lofty hike was the first one in a bit over a year. I was scared because despite going for jogs and doing blogilates videos, Lofty is a monster and can make you feel very very unfit. I had a great friend come up this time with me, and most of the way up, we just had great chats and caught up. Except, there are some bits of the hike that make you really breathless, and all you can do is focus on continuing up the steep slope.
Starting at the bottom at Waterfall Gully, there are a few other trails that aren't as taxing as the main Lofty walk, and is definitely appropriate for those that are less fit, and also for those who want a scenic walk.
Halfway through our walk, we encountered a very cute young kangaroo! It was the most adorable thing. It let us get close enough to take a few photos and gush over it. Haha. The wildlife is just so great up at Lofty. We saw some very beautiful birds. Along the way, I felt like I was in the woods of the arena of the first Hunger Games film. All I needed was a bow and arrow, and could have been mistaken for Katniss.
EVERYONE SHOULD GO DO LOFTY!!! It's fantastic, you are immersed in wildlife, and when you finally make it to the top, you get to see the whole of Adelaide and it's gorgeous.

Thor: The Dark World...a fangirling session
I've been a bit slack with blog material over the past week because I'm literally living in a blur of sleep, catching up on tv shows, facebook stalking, and some sneaky drinks. Hopefully, I'll get to do some exciting things with my life that I can blog about :)
A few days ago, I finally got around to watching Thor: The Dark World. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! If you have yet to watch it, it's a definite must. I was casually starting conversation with someone yesterday, and it turns out they haven't seen a single Marvel film. WHAT?! Ha. I would recommend seeing Thor and The Avengers before seeing this instalment, as it is quite fast paced, and would definitely be helpful in understanding why Loki was locked up. Oops, I should warn people that there might be a few spoilers in the following fangirling section.

Old Pine by Ben Howard
So pretty much all I've been listening to this year is 'Old Pine' by Ben Howard, especially during this hell of a SWOTVAC. And the more I listen to it, the more I fall in love with it, in every way possible. The instrumental, Ben's voice, the lyrics. But, I wanted to explain how I fell in love with the song. All it took was the first 10 seconds.

FREEDOM!!!!...unless I have to sit a supp :(
So it's been a few days since I last wrote a post, but that's because last thursday...I FINISHED MY LAST EXAM!!! It was awful, and I think I may have failed, but I am somehow okay with it. I get a definite supp exam though, so YOLO!! We had an end of exams party that night. Drinks, the beach, no exams...perfect! We ended our night out on the jetty just talking and seagull watching. It felt so strange not talking about Medicine, or exams, or anything to do with study.

SWOTVAC blues: I am a procrastin-otter
When I am meant to be studying the fetal development of various organs, I find my fingers mindlessly type tumblr into the URL bar. I can't help it. I am a tumblr addict.
Every time during SWOTVAC, I find that I get an extreme obsession with something. One year it was the new Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical "The Wizard of Oz", then it was "Love Never Dies". For my mid-year exams this year, I was obsessed with watching every single Ben Howard youtube video I could get my hands on, despite already watching most them. This time, it's otters. Yes. Otters. The cute little critters that are so cute and adorable, and super cute. Did I mention that they're really cute?
The first time I typed in 'otter' in the tumblr search bar, I got a little more than I expected. What I was expecting was cute little fluff balls floating about in water. What I got was a eyeful of male genitals. Needless to say, I dared not venture on to tumblr for a while...for a full 10 minutes. The next time, I typed in sea otters. Finally I was rewarded with cuteness overload.

SWOTVAC blues: some Ryan Gosling motivation
It is the hottest man on Earth's birthday today, and whilst I would be more than happy to ditch the books and celebrate the birth of a fine specimen 33 years ago, I will just have to be content with some motivation from the birthday boy himself! I just got sent this earlier today, and it could not be truer. Happy birthday, Ryan! And to everyone else in SWOTVAC blues, happy studying :)

SWOTVAC blues: bad life choices rant
I think I have made bad life choices. Really bad life choices. Such as the career I'm trying to pursue. I don't think I fully realised how much time and effort I would have to study, and the years of training I would have to undergo, to become a doctor. And I don't want to be just any old doctor. I want to be an Ophthalmologist, a doctor that treats eye problems. Once again...bad life choices.
And why do I think I've made a bad life choice? Purely because I am the worst student in the history of students. I haven't learnt anything all year. I don't go to lectures, I go to PBL tutes in a daze, and then I go home and watch TV shows, play candy crush, facebook stalk, and waste away my time on tumblr. That description made me sound really pathetic.
Right now I have the mantra that if I pass first year medicine, anyone can pass first year medicine.

SWOTVAC blues: a timely motivational purchase
I'm in the middle of SWOTVAC for my end of year exams, and boy has the motivation dropped off. I have 14 cases to review (in my case, actually learn), and a million things to remember, and my brain just can't hold any more! What better way to start a blog than for procrastination?!
Last night, at 1am in the morning, while I laid in bed waiting to feel drowsy, I decided to spend an hour on tumblr. Tumblr is actually one of my favourite websites OF ALL TIME! I think I spend an almost unhealthy amount on there. I happened to chance upon a post that had the most gorgeous watch I've ever seen. I fell in love instantly. It was simple, elegant, and exactly what I needed to re-motivate myself to study, and pass my exams. With further investigation, I found out it was a Daniel Wellington watch.
